I was out in town this afternoon, not “on the beer”, just doing my general Sunday shopping in the hope that I would finish in time to head off for a coffee before I headed home.
I was wondering around a shop when I caught site of a supplement stand that was stacked full with all sorts of different types of supplements that laid claim to many weird and wonderful things. Amongst these endless supplements were various kinds of “fat burners”. Now, there are many supplements in the health and fitness industry but if you held a gun to my head and asked me to name a supplement that I thought was the biggest waste of money then this one would be it.
These so-called fat burners are marketed in such a way that people who buy them genuinely think that they can pop one of the capsules, sit back and just wait for the fat to melt off, and this could not be further from the truth!! Fat burners are not going to incinerate fat from your body and unfortunately for those who buy them, the only thing that they are going to incinerate is your hard-earned money and also your sanity when you start to realise that they are in fact, the biggest waste of money known to man. Do yourself a favour when looking at buying any supplements that claim to help you burn excess fat from your body, do your homework and speak with people in the industry who can help educate you in the correct and honest way regarding them. You will save yourself a heck of a lot of time and money!!
Probably the scariest thing for me is the fact that I see lots of people in the health, fitness and nutrition industry recommending such products as fat burners and it drives me crazy. If you have a Personal Trainer who recommends such supplements to you then I would again, strongly suggest that you get some advice from somebody who is going to educate you in the correct way. Just bear in mind, many Personal Trainers out there hold very little in the way of nutritional qualifications and do very little in the way of further education or research in the field of nutrition, especially in evidence-based nutrition. Most of them either have no idea what they are talking about, get their information from Google or they are in fact, on a commission for selling you such supplements. As I say, do your homework and dig a little deeper when it comes to taking advice from anybody regarding supplementation.
